He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10 NIV)
I am on vacation with my family in the Pacific Northwest. We are camping in a Yurt (which is wonderful) and enjoying the lush green nature we are surrounded by.
Yesterday, I stood and looked up at the sky long enough to see the clouds move. It has been too long since I have done this.
I stood there long enough to feel.
To feel small under the big sky.
To feel wonder in the world around me.
To feel in awe of the beauty of creation.
To be still.
To still the thoughts that whirl.
To still the never ending plans.
To still the worry and the fret.
To know that God is magnificent.
To know that God is powerful.
To know that God is personal.
To know that God is.
When I get back home, I am going to make sure that I take some time to look up.
I will make some time to be still.
I will stay there long enough to feel the stillness settle my mind and allow God’s glory to permeate my spirit.
I will look up often to get perspective.
And you, my friend- get out and look up. Get out from underneath your ceilings and worries, lists and plans and look up. Look up at the sky long enough to see the clouds move.
Because perspective changes when you are still and know that He is God.
