But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. (Matthew 6:6 NIV)
Why do you need to close the door when you pray?
Because you need a safe place to be real. To honestly deal with what is going on inside of you.
A place where there are no mirrors or watchers or judgements or distractions.
A place where it is just you and God.
Then pour out your heart.
Let go of your fear.
Breath in faith and hope.
Bring your heart and life honesty before God and allow him to respond honestly back.
I was talking with a friend last week and she said, “When I begin my day with God – everything else is easier to deal with”. She has been walking faithfully with God for over 20 years.
Life takes over and survival mode often omits prayer (other than “Jesus help me). Then survival mode slips into daily habit and poof, prayer slips away too.
This is a reminder for all of us, those new to the faith and those who have been raised in church: have you closed the door and connected with God lately?
Take a minute.
Close the door, turn off FB, Pinterest, a game or whatever you need to and pray.
