When you listen to the world and take in “all they know” it is like eating fake food. It temporarily fills you up but it is missing any real nutrition for your spirit. Then you find yourself hungry again, starving in fact, for something more.
“My soul is starved and hungry, ravenous!— insatiable for your nourishing commands. And those who think they know so much, ignoring everything you tell them—let them have it!” Psalm 119:18 MSG
You have a spirit inside you that is hungry for the Word of God. It is food for your spirit and the fresh water that your soul craves.
You can sit down to eat at a table laid out with the best food and still not take a bite. The chef can make a meal for you, but you must decide to eat.
Seeing everything that God is doing as everything he already has done, leaves your spirit starving. It keeps your eyes closed and your heart hungry.
This is how you can go to church every week and still spiritually starve. The preacher has prepared the message- will you eat, can you see the miracles God is doing?
You need to eat everyday to grow and thrive.
Get filled up.
Bask in God’s presence.
Eat well from the Word, in fact – snack all day long. Listen to podcasts, listen to last Sunday’s sermon again, surround yourself with worship music.
The stronger your spirit is, the more you have to give.
The more you give, the more you live.
