Slow Down

The Lord isn’t slow to keep his promise, as some think of slowness, but he is patient toward you, not wanting anyone to perish but all to change their hearts and lives. “(2 Peter 3:9 CEB)

Slow down, my friend. I know you are tired and God knows where you are at. In the pursuit of the abundant life, we can mistake more for better. Busy for important. It is important to slow down and take a deep breath. The Lord isn’t slow in keeping His promises and your effort doesn’t hurry it up. He is faithful to complete that which He starts. In fact, sometimes the very best thing to do is rest. Trust. Slow down and look around. We may be impatient to see change, impatient to see the result we desire when we want to see it. Slow down, put yourself and what is weighing heavy on your heart in His Hands. He is patient with you and with others because He sees more than we do, His reach extends ours and His knowledge is not hindered by time or eternity. God knows real change takes time and He is willing to wait.

Rest in Him today and give yourself permission to stop worrying about things you can’t control. In music, the rests are as powerful as the notes to create music.

I’m going to go rest right now, as a matter of fact. Have a great day pursuing God’s best and God’s rest.

I love to hear from you as you pursue God’s plan and purpose for your life. I love and appreciate each comment, text and word of encouragement I receive.

  1. I have heard so many times to slow down, be mindful, meditate, but unfortunately I don’t follow this. Thanks for the reminder.

  2. It is so good that God is patient with me because he has to teach me how to slow down. How does this process happen? How am I going to feel? Will I ever feel it’s alright? I know that I am a work in progress and God is so good and gentle with the changes he makes. Thank you for writting his words of encourgement, just another way for me to see.

  3. What a powerful message. Arriving home last night this was exactly what I was feeling. Slowing down is something I am definately not good at, but I did last night. Thank you for your wisdom.

I love to hear from you and appreciate every comment!
