What Jesus Prayed

In the gospel of John, before He faced the cross, Jesus prayed for you and for me. He prayed that we would not be isolated from the world, but that we would infiltrate it with His love. He prayed that we would be protected from the evil one as we audaciously pursue living out the great commission.

Jesus prayed that we would realize that we don’t belong to the world but to God. He prayed that we would walk in the truth that we are not meant to condemn the world but transform it with His love. He prayed that the truth and power of His Word infiltrating every aspect of our lives would result in our wholeness and the wholeness of those around us. Jesus prayed that His Father would empower us to bring light to the darkness, hope to the hurting, restoration to the broken and that we would be fully united in this purpose. And just to make sure we knew that He was praying for us, he added:

“I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.” John 17:20 (NLT)

Today’s post isn’t about what you should pray for but how Jesus is praying for you.

How will you answer God’s prayer for you today?
