Get Out of the Boat

We tend to stay where we are until where we are is miserable.

Sometimes where you are must get so uncomfortable, so unbearable that change becomes preferable and therefore possible.

In Matthew 14, Peter was tired of where he was. He had been battling the winds and waves all night. His comfort zone, the boat, had been violently tossed about and though he exerted all his effort, he just wasn’t getting very far. And he was tired. At first, Peter was terrified when he saw the man calmly walking on the water out in storm. “But Jesus spoke to them at once. ‘Don’t be afraid,’ he said. ‘Take courage. I am here! ‘” Peter recognized the voice and responded with, “’Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you.’ Jesus told him to come. So Peter stepped over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.”  (Matthew 14:27 NLT )

Peter decided that he would rather be with Jesus doing something impossible than stay where he was.

Has where you are become unbearable?

Is your comfort zone becoming uncomfortable?

Maybe it’s time for radical change and radical faith.

My friend, get out of the boat and join Jesus in the impossible.

Today is your day to decide that where you are isn’t where you are going to stay.
