Did you know that when the word “priority” was introduced and used in the English language, it was not plural? It was only singular. It meant, “What is the one most important thing?” Modern life has pluralized it into “priorities.” Now we have five top priorities rather than one.

Jesus defined the priority of human life as this: a living rich relationship with God. He said, “Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” (Matthew 6:30-33 MSG) Jesus said that this is the priority of life, the most important thing.

This is what you are made for and how you are made to live. Your relationship with God your Father is to be your priority. That’s it. Everything else flows out of that.

Modern life keeps us waist-deep in busyness which leads to hurriedness which leads to a distracted, harried pace of life that chokes out time with God. Flip it on its head, get off that hamster wheel, and make your relationship with God the priority of every day. When you do, you will find the rest will fall into place.
