Through the Fire

That which goes through the fire comes out different. It is changed. Iron becomes steel, clay becomes porcelain, sand becomes glass. The ancient wisdom book of Proverbs proclaims, “In the same way that gold and silver are refined by fire, the Lord purifies your heart by the tests and trials of life.” Proverbs 17:3 (TPT)

Everything that we deem valuable has gone through a process of fire and pressure. The most valuable things born in our character come not through the ease, but challenge. I do not know what fiery trial you are in today but I know that you will be changed by it. How you change is up to you. You can stay in His hands and trust Jesus to transform you or you can try to get out of it as quickly as possible. If you do that, you may come through smelling of smoke but with no real change in your heart.

Being in the fire never feels good. You are not forgotten or abandoned. You are being worked on, you are being transformed. You are not alone, you are in His hands.

Romans 8:28 doesn’t say that all things are good, it says that God will work all things for good. (NIV)

May the trial you are facing today burn off what you don’t need in your life and burn into your soul what you do.

  1. My very favorite verse. Got me through the darkest, saddest time of my life. This is wonderful. Thank you.
