Free From Fear

Faith is not a feeling, it is trusting what is real like trusting in a chair and sitting on it. Hebrews 11:1 states that “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen.” (MEV) You actually live in faith already. You already base your life in what you believe. Maybe deep down you believe that you are going to be abandoned and therefore set up your life to be ready to be abandoned. You are afraid of depending on others, you won’t risk intimacy so that you won’t get hurt. You hold back in your relationships with others in fear of getting hurt and at the first sniff of not being supported, you bail. By faith, you eventually create in your life what are afraid of.

Faith in Jesus sets you free. Jesus is real, what He did on the cross is real and His resurrection is the game changer. He lives so you can have new life in Him. He rose again to offer you freedom from the hamster wheel of fear. You are a new creation in Him. Instead of living to avoid what you fear, through Jesus you are empowered to a life of love, hope and faith in the goodness of God.

“God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.” 1 John 4:17 MSG

You are not made to live alone or exist independently of God. You are created to be connected in a personal relationship with the Creator of the universe whose heart beats with love for you. Whose Son died for you. Who longs to set you free, heal your wounds and empower you to live free from fear.
