Glorious Riches

What do you need today?

I’m not talking about wants or desires, dreams or wishes but need?

The Apostle Paul, writing from house arrest in Rome ended his letter to the newly formed church in Phillpi with this: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 NIV) The church whose first converts were the jailor and his family sent an offering out of their scarcity to support Paul. With his thanks, Paul reminds them of the truth that God will meet their need. He reminded them that God’s glorious kingdom does not work the way the earth’s kingdom does. It does not go bankrupt, it does not come with sanctions. God’s measure of giving doesn’t mirror man’s way of giving. He does not give according to your goodness but according to His own. All of it is accessed through Jesus Christ. Paul writes that God will meet your need not according to what you deserve but according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. This is a staggering measure of giving. Jesus gave all while on earth and holds nothing back as He reigns in heaven. He is the bridge between you and God. He is the payment for your sin. He is the redeemer of what has been stolen. He is the restorer of what has been lost.

What do you need today?

Jesus said in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (NIV)
