The Garden

After Jesus was flogged, crucified and declared that the work was finished He breathed His last breath. John 19:41 tells us that Jesus’ body was taken off the cross and laid to rest in a garden tomb nearby. Just as humanity was born in a garden, humanity was redeemed in one. It was in a garden that the first Adam died spiritually and was separated from God by sin with everyone born after him. It was in a garden that the Son of God’s lifeless body was laid. But it didn’t stay there long. In the darkness of the sealed tomb the great work of resurrection began.

Amidst the aroma of spices death was defeated once for all, life surged forth and our relationship with God restored forever to all who believe. Through the weakness of the first Adam, death entered our story and through the work of the second Adam, eternal life is freely given to all who accept Him, who is Life itself.

1 Corinthians 15: 20-22 declares, “But the truth is, Christ is risen from the dead, as the first fruit of a great resurrection harvest of those who have died. For since death came through a man, Adam, it is fitting that the resurrection of the dead has also come through a man, Christ. Even as all who are in Adam die, so also all who are in Christ will be made alive.” (TPT)

In Jesus, you are resurrected to God and death has no claim on you now and for all eternity.
