Love is a Shelter

Love is a relationship word and the picture we get here is that relationship is a shelter. It is a building to be inhabited. It is the house around you, the home you live in and the shelter from the storms of life. It stands when the winds of accusation blow, surrounds you as you grow and covers you when you struggle.

“Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others.” 1 Corinthians 13:7a TPT

It is a relationship that takes in the weary traveler from the storm and the tired worker after the long day to rest in its rooms. It is a shelter of hope and faith. Agape love never stops believing the best for others. No matter how dirty their rooms are or how sloppy they dress. Love is the house that stands through prosperity and poverty, opportunity and desperation. Agape love believes in people and gives them room to grow into who they will be. Agape love believes that what is impossible with man is possible with God (Matt.19:26).

And when God Himself says those words, you know they are true.

May God’s love be a safe place for you to grow into who He has created you to be and give you eyes to see those around you as His “works in progress” as well.
