Drenched in Love

You may think that if you had a better or more powerful gift from God, you could do more for the world. However, when you make using God’s gifts the goal instead of God Himself being the goal, you are missing the point. The goal of using your God given gifts is to glorify God and point people to Him.

Paul writes to the new Christ followers in Corinth that “if I were to have the gift of prophecy with a profound understanding of God’s hidden secrets, and if I possessed unending supernatural knowledge, and if I had the greatest gift of faith that could move mountains, but have never learned to love, then I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2 TPT

I bet that if you met someone who could move a mountain with their words, you would be impressed. You might also be a bit terrified of them – what if they moved a mountain onto your house? Could you trust them to not do harm to others with that kind of power? But what if that power was from God and for God and their love for God and others was so evident that it put your fears to rest? Drenched in love, the gifts of God bring Him glory. Driven by anything else, powerful gifts may bring mankind glory and mankind’s glory is always short lived.

God is eternal. The gifts that come from Him, are for Him and bring glory to Him. In Christ, You are His beloved child – that is who you are. Out of your relationship with Him, love is birthed, nurtured and grown to its fullness in your life. Out of Love comes everything else, including some great gifts to bless others with.

May you be drenched today in God’s love and may He use you to bring love and life to others in Jesus Name.
