That’s Impressive

The Apostle Paul in a long letter written to the churches in Corinth, Greece is as clear as he can be about what is important to God: it is not what you do for Him but the motivation and driving force for it. Paul writes that seeking and using the spiritual gifts God has given you is good but done without love they are useless noise. He writes, “If I were to speak with eloquence in earth’s many languages, and in the heavenly tongues of angels, yet I didn’t express myself with love, my words would be reduced to the hollow sound of nothing more than a clanging cymbal.” 1 Corinthians 13:1 TPT

The Greek word for love here is agapē, and it is the description of the love God has for His people. This word describes who God is, how He lives and what He feels for us. Apape love is an intense affection that must be demonstrated. It is the highest form of love. It is a loyal, endless, and unconditional commitment of love.
Agape love is not something we can achieve, it is only received. When the power of the Holy Spirit fills us, we are filled with His agape love and He will love through us.

My friend, as you grow in your relationship with God, focus on loving others like God does. Focus on His agape love for you and through you as you serve, speak, care for others and use the gifts He has give you to bring Him glory. People may be impressed by how “gifted” you are but God is impressed when your life and gifts are fueled by His love.

May God’s love abound in your life and overflow through the gifts He has given you. May each person you touch feel God’s agape love through you and look past you to see God’s love for them.
