In Every Situation

My friend, you can have a relationship with God and still get stuck in a mental tornado of worry and fear.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

When you take your fear and anxiety to your loving Father and let Him hold it all, He becomes the calm in the midst of the storm and the eye of the tornado. He is the safe place you run to and where you can rest untouched by the winds of fear whipping around you.

The Apostle Paul then instructs believers to choose to move their thoughts from what they are worried about to what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy (see Phil. 4:8). It is choosing to focus on what you have instead of dwelling on what you are afraid of. You have God and God has you. It is about a conscious choice to let God hold your “what if’s” and glorify Him for what is.

Maybe you are facing an impossible situation today. If it is impossible, it is beyond your power to change it. So go to your loving Father with it. Give it to Him. Leave it to Him. Then ask for His power to open your eyes to see the beauty all around you and make a list of what you are thankful for.
