Lean On Him

Life often demands that you keep going even when you are tired. When you are burdened with grief, you still have to go to work. When you are battling anxiety, someone still has to do the dishes. When you are restless to go but must stay right where you are. Your world may be dripping with unmet expectations, foundation-shaking experiences, and unbearable obligations. Or it may be boring and frustrating with endless monotony.

Jesus is inviting you today to“yoke up” with Him and allow Him to shoulder the great weight you are under. He is imploring you to allow His grace and mercy to fuel your day and get you through. With outstretched arms, He offers His yoke as a guide and His strength to make it through. He says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28 ESV)

The demands of living in religion will condemn and wear you down, but a relationship with the One who loved you so much that He went to the cross for you, is a safe place for your soul to rest. To recover. To refill. Let Jesus love you right where you are – especially if you don’t want to be there. Lay down all your “shoulds” and “wish-I-coulds” and toss off the condemnation that comes with them. Lean on Jesus and allow His love to heal, guide and help you through this difficult time.
