When Moses stood at threshold between where he had been and where God was asking him to go, he asked God a question. He asked God for a Name, the Name of the One who was sending him back to where he had ran from. The Name of the One who promised to go with him. The Name of the One whose power would be with him. God answered Moses:“I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”tell them “I Am” is sending you.” (vs 14)
When Jesus stood on the Temple Courts being asked by the Pharisees where His authority came from, Jesus answered, “before Abraham was, I Am.”( John 8:58 NIV) That phrase is the Greek equivalent to the name given to the voice from the burning bush.
Jesus is God.
He is who you need today.
When you are hungry:
“I am the bread of life.”
John 6:48 NIV
When you are in darkness:
“I am the light of the world.” John 9:5 NIV
When you are lost and defenseless:
“I am the good shepherd.” John 10:11 NIV
When you are hopeless and facing the impossible:
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;” John 11:25 NIV
Who is asking you to trust Him with your future?
Who has promised to walk with you every step of the way?
Whose power will be with you as you step out in faith?
Who are you praying to?
His Name is Jesus and He is the great I AM.
