When we are assuaged by fear of an unknown future and worry of an unknown outcome, it is natural to fall back into our “ways” of dealing with it. Whether it’s to retreat into denial or launch into the endless mind-numbing “what if’s” I want to encourage you to look to a third option: Ask God to show you “His way” of dealing with your current uncertain circumstance.
David writes in Psalm 24:4, “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.” (NIV)
As the cross loomed before Him, Jesus prayed in Luke 22:42, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” So David pleads, “Not my ways but yours”. He pleads for God to show him God’s way of dealing with this and puts God Himself in the position of Mentor, Teacher and Rabbi to guide him on His paths of righteousness instead of his own paths of defensiveness or revenge.
My friend, God will take every opportunity you give Him to show His way forward. He will take you by the hand to help you leave the road of a fear based knee jerk and guide you down His way of treating others with the same mercy He treats you with.
I know that you want to experience God’s plans for your life and so do I. So, don’t let someone else’s agenda hijack it. Turn your focus to God and ask Him to reveal to you His ways and how to walk forward in faith.
“Direct me, Yahweh, throughout my journey so I can experience your plans for my life. Reveal the life-paths that are pleasing to you.” Psalms 25:4 TPT
Amen.
