To Seek and Save

Years ago on our way out of Disneyland our youngest son was intently looking at his new stuffed animal and got lost in the surging crowd. One moment he was with us and next he wasn’t. I immediately stopped, told my husband and we began looking for him. We went back to the last spot we saw him and began calling his name. After five long minutes we found him. As we wrapped our arms around him, big tears welled up in his eyes and he said, “I couldn’t see you, I couldn’t find you.”  My husband told him, “You did the right thing- you stopped right where you were. We will always find you, always come back and get you.”

“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”  (Luke 19:10 NIV)

Jesus crossed the boundary of heaven and earth to find God’s children. He came for those who get distracted and are swallowed up by the surge of the crowd.  He came for those who panic and don’t know where they are. He came to  seek and save, find and hold, reclaim and restore the lost. You can know that the One who destroyed death will not stop seeking and saving those you love – He loves them even more than you do.

  1. This really hit home. I am glad to be reminded he will not stop seeking and saving the ones we love.
