What does forgiveness mean?
Ephesians 4:31-32 says, “Lay aside bitter words, temper tantrums, revenge, profanity, and insults. But instead be kind and affectionate toward one another. Has God graciously forgiven you? Then graciously forgive one another in the depths of Christ’s love.”
Forgiveness is taking the power away from someone else and giving it back to God.
You don’t have to trust someone to forgive them.
They don’t have to know you forgive them.
They don’t have to be sorry in order for you to forgive them.
Forgiveness is not about restoring trust in them, it is about trusting God with them.
Forgiveness is not a feeling, it is a choice.
Forgiveness is about freedom – yours.
And you can’t do it without God’s power.
Who do you need to forgive today?
